Seven out of the ten artists on this week’s Pop Chart hail from different countries, making it our most diverse list to date. Asian artists from Indonesia, South Korea and Taiwan feature prominently, with ?te (pronounced Why-te) topping the list following 19.4% Spotify follower growth.
?Te features on several Spotify RADAR playlist, as well as the Top 50 - Taiwan, and the editorial playlist EQUAL taiwan. ?Te’s recent growth comes shortly after she won a Golden Melody Award, an honor awarded by the Taiwanese Minister of Culture to recognise outstanding achievements in popular and traditional music.
US pop singer-songwriter Samantha LaPorta lands on the chart at #2, doubling her Spotify following off the back of new single ‘Closure’. Kaleb J appeared on The Voice in 2019, with his track ‘It’s Only Me’ currently #1 on the Spotify Global Viral 50 chart. The track has over 3.5m views on YouTube, 5m Spotify streams and features in 257 videos on TikTok. In the past 7 days, Kaleb J has seen 117% Spotify follower growth.
Polish artist Young Leosia has been on a run of growth since releasing her latest single ‘Jungle Girl’, which has already racked-up 5.5m streams on Spotify. Her tracks feature in playlists with 11m total followers, while the music video for ‘Jungle Girl’ has amassed 8m views on YouTube in just 2 weeks. American singer-songwriter A-Wall makes his Pop Chart debut after appearing on our last Indie Chart thanks to the continued viral success of Loverboy on TikTok.
Abe Parker is also big on TikTok, with 150k followers and 3.7m likes across his videos. He is currently teasing new tracks ‘Empty House’ and ‘3 Moods’ with a pre-save campaign that has seen his Spotify following more than double since August 17th. South African Amapiano artist Lady Du features in Spotify playlists with over 1.4m total followers, including African Heat and Amapiano Grooves. Along with #9 entry Kelvyn Boy, both continue to show the impact of African Music on the global stage.
Wrapping up the chart, K-Pop group MIRAE have amassed 4.5m views on the music video for their track ‘Splash’, with support in several popular editorial K-Pop playlists on Spotify. The group have seen accelerated growth on Spotify since this playlist support started back in June, doubling their following on the streaming platform. Finally, French R&B vocalist Yanns enters the Pop Chart at #10 after working his way up the Hip Hop Chart in previous weeks.
