Going HOT🔥 on our platform is a huge achievement for an artist, as it means one or more of their social or streaming channels has grown exponentially in a short amount of time. But some artists manage to sustain this growth over a longer period, racking up a Hot Streak.
Canadian artist Jayli Wolf first went Hot back in April when she released her first ever track ‘Child of the Government’, a song about and dedicated to the Indigenous children separated from their families in the 1960s. Just before the track was released, Wolf went viral on TikTok explaining the meaning behind the title and lyrics, and the track eventually debuted in New Music Friday Canada and the Out Now LGBTQI+ playlist.
Since we first profilled Jayli Wolf, her Spotify following has grown by 277% and she has released the ‘Wild Whisper’ EP, with continued playlist support from Spotify. In addition to a number of Canadian and Pride playlists, her track ‘Would You Die’ features in Pop All Day and It’s a Bop, alongside the likes of Ed Sheeran and Olivia Rodrigo.
Now on another two week Hot Streak since the release of ‘Wild Whisper’, Wolf has seen mainstream press coverage from the likes of MTV News, Vogue and Rolling Stone, exposing her completely unique life story to an entirely new audience. Wolf has used her new platform to raise awareness around issues faced by Indigenous people in North America, putting it front and centre of both her music and social presence.
