Hot Streak: Crayon

Going HOT🔥 on our platform is a huge achievement for an artist, as it means one or more of their social or streaming channels has grown exponentially in a short amount of time. But some artists manage to sustain this growth over a longer period, racking up a Hot Streak.

Nigerian afropop artist Crayon is on a 15 day Hot Streak thanks to a combination of editorial playlist support from Spotify and success on short-form video platform Triller. Kelvyn Boy’s track ‘Tele’ - which features guest vocals from Crayon - currently sits in the African Heat and Afro Party Anthems playlists, alongside the likes of Burna Boy and Gyakie. Since releasing his EP ‘Twelve A.M.’ on March 26th, Crayon’s Spotify followers have grown by 52% to 6.9k, with his cumulative playlist followers close to 2 million.

In addition to streaming growth, Crayon’s track ‘Jackpot’ has accumulated 372.3k views on Triller, with the artist himself currently sitting at over 20k followers on the platform. Triller is a hotbed for rising stars from across Africa, with Hot artists such as Gyakie breaking on the platform before going on to sign major label deals. In addition to ‘Jackpot’ being a hit on the platform, Crayon’s track ‘Too Correct’ features in its own eponymous dance challenge on the app.
