Described to have won the Young Jazz Musician Award “with great mix of communicativeness, simplicity and sass”, Daniel Casimir is proving to be an up and coming bassist and composer
Daniel attended the Birmingham Conservatoire Jazz Course in 2008 and during he had the honour of being taught by legendary bassist Dave Holland. Decided to further develop his skills as an improviser and composer, Daniel completed his Masters at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, supported by scholarships from the Savile Club and Help Musicians.
Daniel has had the opportunity of performing with the following artists; Julian Joseph, Jason Rebello, Benet Mclean, Lonnie Liston Smith, Nathan Facey, Shane Forbes, Chihiro Yamanaka and David Lyttle. In addition to performing with an array of musicians, Daniel has recorded with the Nubya Garcia (We Out Here, Nubya’s 5IVE), Tom Harrison (Unfolding in Tempo), Jasmine Power (Stories and Rhymes), Camilla George (Isang) and Ashley Henry (Easter).
In 2017 Daniel released his first recording as a bandleader Escapee, which was released under the Jazz Re:freshed. Daniel is currently preparing new material for his album with vocalist Tess Hirst, These Days.
