Meet the Team: Marnie Burt

I’m a Wimbledon-born music enthusiast with a background in music tech and over three years experience managing artists’ social media accounts. I joined the Instrumental family nearly two years ago and am now an Account Manager.

What does your role entail?

I act as a point of contact for Talent Managers in Southeast Asia that are setting up MCNs on behalf of Warner Music, among other bits and pieces.

What’s the best part of your job?

The team! I’ve made some of my closest friends in this office. Also the Krispy Kremes that mysteriously appear from time to time, #WednesdayZenDay, #WineDayWednesday and #TryFridays.

When you were younger, what did you want to be?

I remember talking to a careers adviser in Year 6 and saying I wanted to be a dog walker out of sheer panic. The look she gave me was that of disappointment - felt like flipping some tables and yelling “WHAT?! What do you want me to say?! I’m ELEVEN, I don’t even know what a job IS!”

Honestly, who thought it was a good idea to ask year six kids about their future careers? Madness. Although being a dog walker does still sound ace...

In your spare time, what do you get up to?

I’m a singer-songwriter! I spend my time mumble-singing in the kitchen, yell-singing to Phil Collins and despairing that I can’t find a good rhyme for “orange”. Solange? Blancmange? Sausage?

I also enjoy a bit of yoga and taking some time in my day to come up with puns that would have been hilarious if I’d have thought of them in the relevant conversation two weeks ago.

If you could perform live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Wilderness Festival! Not the biggest or flashiest of venues, but we had such a fab time there last year, so now it’s my life goal to do a midday set in front of 34 people and a dog in a spandex jumpsuit. (Me in the jumpsuit, not the dog. Although a dog would probably look better in one after the amount of Papa John’s I ate last night.)

If you had to eat one meal everyday for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Spinach and ricotta tortellini. If you know, you know.

Also found another spinach and ricotta delicacy in Borough Market the other week, I think it was Greek. It was amazing and nutritious.
